There’s been some controversy about “styled shoots” and how they affect realistic visions for weddings. If you think they show couples amazing ideas that are often not financially feasible for their wedding, you’d be absolutely correct. If you think they also portray ideas that aren’t practical for a wedding, you’d be absolutely correct. And if you think they often belong more in a magazine than in the everyday scroll of beautiful wedding imagery you are exposed to as someone planning a wedding- you’re probably right.
That’s why I (and some others in the wedding industry) are flipping the script and calling them “Editorial Shoots.” Semantics. It doesn’t really matter- but it does. As designers, we LOVE to have the opportunity to create from nothing (or in this case, from a few Pinterest images Victoria from Burgh Brides sent me one day). You see, most of what we create is dictated by the couple’s wants, needs, and style. This is what we do- we make YOUR vision come to life. And we love it! But sometimes, creators gotta create… from scratch.
Here you will find a stunning modern and bold Editorial project that started with a few inspiration photos from Victoria and ended up in a masterpiece collaboration with some of Pittsburgh’s top wedding vendors. Please enjoy the beauty. If you see something you’d like us to recreate for you, just let us know. We’re here for it.
While I wouldn’t recommend this much floral in the sight-line of guests at a real wedding, we could absolutely use our tall Church Stands on a long table to create drama and height. A few clusters of the gold cylinders with floral and candles placed just right will add a perfect touch.
This cake art by Four Oaks Bakery is just that…art. But her cakes are also SO yummy!
